In this episode we discuss the wildly popular Netflix film, "Making a Murderer", about Steven Avery and his mildly retarded nephew, Brendan Dassey.
When that segment is over we have an exclusive interview from the Green Bay Correctional Facility with Brendan. We "reached out" to Steven Avery but he told us he does not do interviews until after he gets his appeal.

The #VegasShooting by Stephen Paddock has rocked the nation and the information that has been coming out since only adds confusion and uncertainty to the mix. In the first segment of the show, it's business as usual. After the break, we open the phones and read comments from the live feed on Facebook as we discuss the shooting.LINKSwww.bigboxofmagic.com Promo BOX4DAD www.thepatriotmilitia.com promo CHECKED OUT www.facebook.com/checkedoutnjCOIJ is produced by the New Jersey Podcast Guys (www.njpodcastguys.com)Opening theme "Tilt-a-Whirl" by Jimmie Vaughn & the Tilt-a-Whirl Band
We're back and fresh as daisies for Season 4 of Checked Out. We've got big plans for this year on the show which might include some changes, but we need your help to do some of it! Listen to find out why.
One of those changes requires us to curb our language a bit and structure the show better. Why? Well, we've targeted NJ101.5 and WDHA in New Jersey. Not in a bad way. Rather, we've set our sights on getting ourselves on one of their airwaves. Even if it's at 3am. We're just too good at this to not get paid. Plus we love it and miss taking callers. So how will we curb our language? With self-discipline. And when that doesn't work, Mario the Millennial will shock the cursing cast member with a shock collar. BUT there's a caveat. You have to show us that you want to hear us get shocked. How? By going here and buying one or all three of the shock collars for us.
Oh, by the way, we also welcome Mario the Millennial who, in true Millennial fashion, showed up…
Matt has yet another heart attack. Or maybe this time it was a stroke. Or nicotine poisoning. Or who knows what? All he knows is that he couldn't lift his arms and he didn't like what his doctor told him. Just listen.Chet had sand in his va-jay-jay, so Rodney, from Down The Hall Podcast (www.downthehallpodcast.com), was flying solo during his segment, in which he gives Matt health advise and forms a "co-hosts union" of sorts with Pete. This week's recommendation is "Sing Street". Just listen! And, finally, the Main Event: Audible Soul is a refreshing, soulful trio out of Westfield, New Jersey and they stop by the studio to deliver our first live in-studio performance since Marquis Allen in 2015. (We really are a class act when it comes to bringing you fine entertainment.) You really gotta listen!! Oh, and CJ owns Butcher Burgers on Elm St in Westfield. Matt and Pete ate their a few weeks ago and, boy, oh boy, does that CJ make some good burgers. No joke.…

The shock collars have arrived with all thanks going to Matt for having the great idea to create a wishlist and then come up with a way to, not only, entertain the fans, but, also, discover who the most sadistic fan is. That fan is none other than Superfan Mark. Thanks, Mark for buying the collars for us. And as an added bonus, these collars helped us discover that the real masochist on the show is Jimmy the Italian. There's no rule saying you have to put the shock collar on your balls, James. Oh and, by the way, if you use those things on your dog, you're an asshole. They hurt like a mother
We also discuss the hurt we feel that our interview with Kevin MacLeod looks more like an afterthought on his website (www.incompetech.com) than anything he is proud to have done. The sad part is, our interview with him was 20 times more entertaining. But we still love Kevin MacLeod and can't wait to have him on again.

It's fitting and totally accidental that we do a show about a film right on the heels of Warren Beatty's gaffe at The Oscars and Bill Paxton's death. In this episode, writer/director Anthony Germinario talks filmmaking and his directorial debut "Bad Frank". This is a great interview for aspiring filmmakers. And, on a sad note, we bid a fond farewell to our resident Millennial, Mario. Yes, between being offered a promotion at work, school, the distance to the studio and having turned 21, he just has no time for the show anymore. So this is his last episode. Good-bye, little bird. Fly far, far away and spread your seed and urine wherever you can! We will never forget youCOIJ is produced by the New Jersey Podcast Guys. www.njpodcastguys.com
